Pancreas, bile duct and endoscopy care in Bengaluru
Hello, I'm Dr. Balaji. Most of my work is with problems of the pancreas, bile ducts and gallbladder, and with endoscopy, from a simple gastroscopy to ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound and POEM. I do every procedure myself, and I'll always explain your options in plain words.
Pancreas, bile duct and gallbladder problems
These organs sit deep in the upper abdomen and are hard to see on routine scans. Getting the diagnosis right, and choosing between endoscopy, surgery or simply watching, is where careful specialist care helps most.
Bile duct stones
Stones that slip out of the gallbladder and block the bile duct, causing pain, jaundice or fever.
→Acute pancreatitis
Sudden, severe upper-belly pain. What happens in hospital and how to stop it coming back.
→Pancreatic cysts
Found on a scan by chance? Most are harmless, and some need a closer look with EUS.
→Jaundice and blocked bile ducts
Yellow eyes, dark urine or itching. Finding the cause and opening the blockage.
→Endoscopy procedures, done personally
From routine diagnostic tests to advanced therapeutic endoscopy. Each page explains why it's done, how to prepare, what it feels like and the honest risks.
ERCP
Clearing bile duct stones and opening blockages with stents, without an operation.
→Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
A close-up ultrasound of the pancreas and bile ducts from inside the gut, with biopsy if needed.
→POEM for achalasia
An incision-free endoscopic treatment that helps food pass into the stomach again.
→Upper GI endoscopy
A short camera test of the food pipe, stomach and duodenum.
→Colonoscopy
Checking the large bowel, and removing polyps in the same sitting.
→Therapeutic endoscopy
Stopping bleeding, widening narrowings, placing stents and more.
→In-person second opinion
Been told you need ERCP, surgery or a biopsy? Let's talk it through.
A big recommendation deserves a calm second look. In a face-to-face consultation I go through your reports and scans with you, examine you, and explain every reasonable option, including the option of waiting. You leave with a written summary to take back to your own doctor.
- New pancreatic cyst or mass on a scan
- ERCP, EUS or surgery recommended
- Repeated attacks of pancreatitis
- Achalasia: POEM, balloon or surgery?
- A polyp called "too big to remove"
